A fire in the Collserola sierra, between Barcelona's Pedralbes and Can Caralleu neighborhoods, has burned about ten hectares of forest and scrubland. The Guardia Urbana arrested a man in the area with two lighters, and evidence suggests intentionality.

The flames, which broke out on Friday afternoon near 92 Pearson Avenue, were quickly stabilized thanks to the decisive response of the Barcelona Fire Department and the Generalitat. The proximity to urban areas caused concern among residents, who were preventively confined to their homes.
The scientific police of the Mossos d’Esquadra and Agents Rurals went to the point of origin to search for accelerant residue. The fire affected approximately ten hectares of vegetation and scrubland, and several ground fire crews remained throughout the night cooling the area to extinguish active hotspots.
Adverse weather conditions, including torrid and tropical nights, had activated the municipal action plan for forest fire risk in alert phase. Coordination between the resources of both administrations was key to the rapid stabilization of the fire, although high-voltage lines and antennas in the most critical area complicated the work of aerial resources.

"It has been shown that the forecast was not correct, nor was the functioning of the Rodalies device to cover the transfers during the eclipse day."

Manel Nadal · Secretary of Mobility of the Generalitat
In other news, the Secretary of Mobility of the Generalitat, Manel Nadal, has admitted "errors" in the forecast and functioning of the Rodalies system during the solar eclipse, which caused a collapse in the rail network. Nadal pointed out that the return journeys were more orderly thanks to the intervention of the Mossos d’Esquadra, who restricted access to the platforms to avoid risky situations.
Civil Protection activated the Ferrocat plan's pre-alert due to the heavy crowds registered at stations such as Tortosa, Tarragona, and Altafulla. Renfe, for its part, denied a lack of foresight and claimed it had no more trains available. The Generalitat, in a subsequent statement, considered the operation a "success," overlooking the collapse experienced on the rail network.
