The dean of ENGINYERS BCN, Ricard Nogués, participated in the presentation event for the Roadmap for the energy transition and decarbonization of industry by 2050. The event, held at DFactory Barcelona and organized by the Catalan Energy Institute (ICAEN), brought together institutional representatives, companies, and industrial sector stakeholders.
The meeting's objective was to analyze the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition for Catalonia's productive fabric, seeking to move towards a more sustainable industry without losing competitiveness. The Minister of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition, Sílvia Paneque, highlighted innovation as key to more efficient industrial processes. Meanwhile, the Director General of Industry, Xavier Roca Ramon, underscored the essential connection between energy and industry, emphasizing the need to jointly address decarbonization and industrial development.
The roadmap proposes a progressive transformation of the industrial energy model through improvements in energy efficiency, electrification of processes, promotion of renewable self-consumption, and the use of alternative fuels. These measures are intended to reduce emissions and achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
The role of the National Pact for Industry 2026-2030 was also discussed, which integrates sustainability and energy as strategic axes to strengthen industrial competitiveness.
The director of ICAEN, Anna Camp Casanovas, concluded by emphasizing the importance of advancing decarbonization and promoting an energy transition aligned with the sector's needs.
