On October 8, 2026, a conference will be held focusing on the adoption of the European framework for the career development of research management staff. The event, organized by the Department of Research and Universities and AGAUR, will run from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
The session will gather representatives from leading European initiatives and officials from universities and research centers. The aim is to explore the challenges and opportunities presented by the professionalization of research management, as well as to share experiences for its implementation in the Catalan context.
The RM Framework project, funded by Horizon Europe, aims to create a European framework for training and networking in research management. This initiative provides a basis for policy development and potential institutional actions to enhance the development of research managers and improve their skills.
The project promotes a European certification system for research management (RM) training based on the RMComp competency framework, approved by the European Commission in January 2025. This system is designed to support research managers in developing key skills, fostering professional growth, and aligning practices with European standards.
In-person attendance at the conference is by invitation due to limited capacity and the strategic nature of the event. A portion of the conference will be streamed online and will be available soon on the organization's website.
