Casa Amèrica Catalunya becomes the hub for the KM America festival, celebrating its fifth edition until June 22 with 40 writers.

Casa Amèrica Catalunya is hosting the fifth edition of the KM Amèrica festival, a literary event that will run until June 22. This annual gathering brings together 40 writers and aims to be a space for meeting and reflection, connecting Latin America, the Caribbean, and Barcelona.
Under the curatorship of Mexican writer Eduardo Ruiz Sosa, this year's edition focuses on literature as a form of resistance against violence, destruction, and war. Ruiz Sosa explains that the mission is "to confront the current state of warlike delirium in the world and to think about how, from our individual and collective positions, we can oppose it".
The festival seeks to strengthen historical and cultural ties, bringing together forty participants from diverse backgrounds, generations, and creative sensibilities. The goal is to establish a communication channel between the voices of Latin America and the Caribbean and Catalan literature and the Barcelona public, discussing books, history, and the realities of both communities.
The program includes talks, interviews, and reading and writing workshops. Additionally, on June 22, there will be the theatrical premiere of Un puñado de flechas, an adaptation of a short story by María Gainza, winner of the Narratives a Escena 2026 Award, presented by the KM Amèrica festival itself.
