The Barcelona Provincial Council has consolidated its support for L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and fourteen other municipalities to implement local pacts aimed at reducing educational segregation in classrooms.

This supra-municipal initiative, covering towns across seven different regions, aims primarily to achieve a more balanced distribution of vulnerable students in educational centers. The project seeks to make local agreements a stable tool for ensuring equal opportunities in accessing educational resources.
The technical support and methodological advice provided by the Provincial Council allow for the coordination of efforts between city councils, families, neighborhood entities, and the educational community. According to the organization, the challenge of segregation requires cross-cutting policies that go beyond the school, integrating aspects such as social cohesion, urban planning, and leisure offerings outside school hours.
In addition to L’Hospitalet, the network of municipalities includes towns such as Canovelles, Manresa, Martorell, Masquefa, Mataró, Premià de Mar, Sabadell, Sant Celoni, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Sant Feliu de Codines, Sant Just Desvern, Terrassa, and Vic.
The provincial strategy is complemented by the Municipal Schooling Offices (OME), which ensure transparent admission processes. Current data indicate that the Barcelona regions concentrate a significant portion of municipalities with high levels of segregation, prompting the Provincial Council to continue increasing the number of localities joining these pacts.
