According to the Digital talent overview report, prepared by the Mobile World Capital Barcelona foundation, the tech labor market has undergone a significant shift. While opportunities for professionals starting their careers have decreased, demand for mid-level profiles has grown by 21.7%, and for senior profiles by 15%.
Experts point out that companies are prioritizing the hiring of workers with greater execution capacity and immediate integration into established teams. This dynamic is attributed to the automation of tasks traditionally performed by new hires, such as writing code documentation or technical explanations, tasks now handled by chatbots in over 74% of cases.
“"The tasks typical of these workers are the ones being automated the most."
Although the sector maintains that opportunities still exist for engineering graduates, there is a warning about a bottleneck that hinders entry into the labor market. The Tech Barcelona business association has warned that a model based exclusively on hiring experienced profiles is unsustainable in the long term, as it risks the generational turnover needed to train future experts.
Faced with this scenario, industry stakeholders propose redefining job roles and reviving figures such as tutored apprenticeships. The goal is to adapt training to the new skills required by artificial intelligence, ensuring that organizations continue to base their growth on human capital.
