The city of Barcelona will host the 44th edition of the Setmana del Llibre en Català, taking place from September 18-27, 2026. The event, held this year on Passeig de Lluís Companys, aims to showcase the richness and diversity of Catalan publishing with the participation of publishing houses, bookstores, and institutions. The coincidence with the Festes de la Mercè promises an intense cultural week.
The fair will feature 98 stalls and the presence of 282 publishing houses. Over 300 activities have been scheduled, including literary presentations, author signings, literary tours of the city, and a space dedicated to family workshops and storytelling. The Oficis del Llibre (Book Trades) tent will also debut, focusing initially on the role of libraries.
The Premi Trajectòria (Lifetime Achievement Award) will be presented to Ramon Solsona, while Màrius Serra will receive the Premi Difusió (Dissemination Award). The program includes four stages for young people, adults, and families, offering a comprehensive experience for all audiences.
The opening hours for the Setmana del Llibre en Català 2026 are as follows: Friday, September 18, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM; Saturday, September 19, to Sunday, September 26, from 10 AM to 8:30 PM; and Sunday, September 27, from 10 AM to 2:30 PM. Admission to the fair is free.
Literary tours, which were successful in previous editions, will once again offer around thirty guided walks to discover the settings of various literary works, such as those by Mercè Rodoreda or Joan Maragall. Registrations are made through the event's website, with a general ticket price of €9, although free options will also be available.
