The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Vèrtex building, located on the North Diagonal Campus in Barcelona. The celebration will feature the performance of the cantata 'Cerdà: The Power of Civilisation', a musical piece selected for the Ildefons Cerdà Year 2026.
This composition, with music by Albert Guinovart and text by writer Esteve Miralles, aims to honor the life, ideas, and legacy of Cerdà, who is considered the father of modern urban planning as a scientific discipline.
The event will include addresses from various academic and political representatives. Speakers will include Núria Montserrat, Minister of Research and Universities of the Government of Catalonia; Francesc Torres, rector of the UPC; Montserrat Guàrdia, president of the Board of Trustees; Neus Cónsul, general secretary; and Esther Real, director of the Barcelona School of Civil Engineering (ETSECCPB).
Student representatives will also take the floor: Pau Argiz, president of the UPC Student Council, and Ivan Hidalgo, president of the Civil Engineering School Student Delegation.
The event will be broadcast live on the UPC's YouTube channel. Auditorium access is limited and requires prior registration via the online form provided.
