The weekly document on temporary speed limitations sent by Adif to its personnel reveals that, despite four restrictions being removed due to repairs, 28 new ones have been added, resulting in a net balance of 24 additional limitations. This increase occurs even though the recovery of normal service had been previously announced for some sections.
By province, Barcelona accumulates the most temporary speed limitation points, with 86 (13 more than the previous week). It is followed by Tarragona, with 57; Girona, with 28, and finally Lleida, with eight. The most affected line is the R15, which will have 42 restriction points, including 17 between Riba-roja d'Ebre and Reus.
“"If the manager establishes temporary speed limitations, we follow them. The fact that there are so many points responds to an extraordinary situation in which Adif is working to secure the infrastructure and guarantee the safety of the service."
The new limitations incorporated starting February 2 mainly affect the R4 and RG1 lines, with six points each, and the R3, R13, and RL4, with four. For the RL4, three of the new sections between Cervera and Manresa are due to the detection of flood-prone areas with “high risk.” The main general reason for the speed reductions is the state of the track (24% of cases), followed by the condition of the switches (13%) and the trenches (11%).
