The exhibition, located in the courtyard of the Frederic Marès Museum, offers a retrospective look at the evolution of La Mercè's visual identity and how Barcelona has represented itself over recent decades.
Jaume Collboni stated that these posters «are part of Barcelona's heritage and our collective memory», and thanked the artists for their talent, which enriches the city's creative fabric.
The exhibition allows visitors to discover how each generation of artists has interpreted the festival, showcasing diverse approaches to the relationship between art, city, and culture, and reflecting social changes and municipal cultural policies.
The collection, resulting from free artistic interpretations of the festival, has made the posters a privileged space for aesthetic experimentation and cultural projection, highlighting artistic trends and the evolution of visual languages.
In conjunction with the exhibition, Barcelona Llibres has published the eponymous work ‘Moltes Mercès’, the first comprehensive compilation of this visual heritage, featuring texts by Julià Guillamon.
