The Mossos d'Esquadra dismantled and sealed with cement an illegally occupied premises in Plaça Vila de Madrid, in Barcelona's Gòtic neighborhood, arresting two alleged drug trafficking leaders this Thursday.

The operation took place midday Thursday at number three of Plaça Vila de Madrid, a location that had generated growing unrest among residents due to frequent fights and sordid scenes. Officers identified 15 people consuming narcotics inside and seized small quantities of drugs, cash, and precision material.
The Xarxa Veïnal Gòtic association had previously warned about the deterioration and sense of insecurity, leading numerous neighbors to hang banners against incivility and crime. The closure has brought great relief to residents, who feared reoccupation.

This is what they should always do, otherwise they will occupy it again... We already had another 'narcolocal' nearby.

This 'narcolocal' is not an isolated case in the area. The Mossos had already intervened on October 3 in another similar establishment located at number 4 of Carrer d'en Bot, which was also sealed and returned to its owner. The police have started a round of meetings with local entities to inform them of the security measures taken.
Concern in the area intensified after the body of a homeless person was found in the same square, near the premises, on December 31. Although the Mossos investigation ruled out homicide, the cause of death may have been an overdose, reinforcing the theory of proximity to the now-closed supply point.
