A rider was caught driving at excessive speed in the city. The motorcyclist was detected by the Guàrdia Urbana on the Via Augusta at 138 km/h, significantly exceeding the 50 km/h limit set for this urban road.
The police reported the incident via an Instagram post this Sunday. This serious infraction has led to the rider being criminally charged for speeding, which is considered a crime against road safety.
According to Article 379.1 of the Penal Code, exceeding speed limits by more than 60 km/h on urban roads constitutes a crime. Associated penalties can include imprisonment for three to six months, a fine, or community service, in addition to the suspension of the driving license for one to four years. The final decision on the penalty rests with the presiding magistrate.
