Barcelona City Council has initially approved a 2.72 million euro project to renovate Artesania Street in the La Guineueta neighborhood, Nou Barris district, with works planned for 2027.

The project will focus on the section between Via Júlia and Ponce de León street, with the main objective of widening sidewalks, improving pedestrian accessibility, and increasing green spaces. The municipal forecast is for construction to begin in early 2027 and conclude in the latter half of the year.
The intervention will cover an area of approximately 4,800 square meters. In addition to sidewalk expansion, some urban services will be relocated, and spaces in front of commercial premises and homes will be reorganized. The project also includes the addition of new trees and the visual and functional extension of La Guineueta Park.
According to municipal sources, this action is significant due to Artesania Street's role as a connection between the neighborhoods of Verdum, La Guineueta, and Canyelles, as well as its concentration of commercial activity and high pedestrian traffic.
The renovation is part of the Municipal Investment Program (PIM) 2024-2027. Within the same program, 1.15 million euros will be invested to improve the green areas of Àngel Pestaña Square in the Prosperitat neighborhood. Furthermore, in La Guineueta, the Artesania Street renovation is in addition to the rehabilitation of the Can Carreres farmhouse, with a nine million euro investment to transform it into a public facility housing a municipal nursery and a child and adolescent care team.
