Baix Llobregat Hotel Occupancy: Best March and 6% Growth in Q1

The region consolidates its position as the third metropolitan area in overnight stays, driven by business and holidays.

Hotel occupancy in Baix Llobregat reached 60% in the first quarter of 2026, a six-point increase from the previous year, consolidating its position as the third metropolitan region in overnight stays.

The first quarter of 2026 has been particularly positive for the hotel sector in Baix Llobregat, with occupancy rising to 60%, a six-percentage-point increase compared to the previous year. This growth solidifies the region's standing as the third in occupancy within the Barcelona metropolitan area, marking the best March in recent years, partly coinciding with Easter.
According to the report from the Consorci de Turisme and the Observatori Comarcal del Baix Llobregat, business and occupancy ratings remain above 7 out of 10. Business was the primary reason for stays (56%), especially during major trade fairs like the Mobile World Congress and ISE. Holidays (24%) and other reasons (13%) also contributed to these figures, with notable growth in both categories compared to 2025.
The domestic market accounted for 53.3% of overnight stays, an increase of 3.4 percentage points. The main international markets were Catalonia (27%), France (7%), Germany (6%), the Community of Madrid (5.5%), and the United Kingdom (5.2%). Guests from Catalonia, Germany, and Valencia showed the most significant growth in share, while those from the United States and Canada decreased.
During the first quarter, an average of 11,418 hotel rooms were offered, an increase compared to the previous year. January and March recorded the highest supply. Although the number of tourists slightly decreased (-0.5%), overnight stays saw a significant 11% increase, reaching 612,049.
