97% of the vehicles planned for the Second Pentecost exodus operation have already left the Barcelona area. Specifically, 585,000 departures were recorded out of an estimated 600,000, between midday Friday and Saturday afternoon. The Servei Català de Trànsit detailed that the most significant issues occurred on Friday afternoon, particularly on the AP-7.
The AP-7 experienced traffic jams of up to 40 kilometers in both directions, leading to some minor accidents. The most affected sections were near Llinars del Vallès and Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, as well as in la Roca del Vallès, Montmeló, and el Perelló.
The Second Pentecost is a public holiday in over 150 municipalities, primarily in the Barcelona metropolitan area, including Barcelona, Badalona, Santa Coloma de Gramanet, Sant Adrià de Besòs, Cornellà de Llobregat, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Montcada i Reixac, Ripollet, and Mataró.
Regarding the return operation, approximately 300,000 vehicles are expected to return to the Barcelona metropolitan area between midday and midnight on Monday. A partial return is anticipated on Sunday, with increased mobility on the AP-7 south and north (between Gelida and Martorell, and between Llinars del Vallès and la Roca del Vallès), the C-31 in Santa Cristina d'Aro, the C-33 in Montcada i Reixac, and the C-58 in Sant Quirze del Vallès and Montcada i Reixac.
Monday is expected to see heavier traffic on the AP-7 (between Vilafranca del Penedès, Gelida, and Martorell, and between Llinars del Vallès and la Roca), the C-31 in Santa Cristina d'Aro and Platja d'Aro, the C-65 in Llagostera and Santa Cristina d'Aro, the C-33 in Montcada i Reixac, the C-58 in Sant Quirze del Vallès and Montcada i Reixac, the N-340 (between Altafulla, Roda de Berà, and el Vendrell), and the N-II in Tordera.
