The Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Pedralbes will host, from July 24th to 26th, the event 'Lumina Divina'. This immersive installation will transform its cloister with a unique visual and sound proposal to celebrate the space's 7th centenary. Access will be free and open to all, without prior reservation, between 10:00 PM and 12:00 AM.
The intervention offers a contemporary interpretation of the cloister's symbolism, using light, sound, and time to connect with the essential elements of architecture, nature, and water. Seven hundred years ago, the cloister was conceived as the heart of monastic life, a place of silence and contemplation now revisited from a museographic perspective.
Visitors can wander freely through the cloister and discover different moments of light and sound activation linked to twelve heritage elements. During the visit, only the cloister will be open to the public, while the exhibition rooms and the medieval garden will remain closed.
Technology is subtly integrated, with small projections and directional sounds that do not alter the original atmosphere. The climax will occur when the cloister activates as a whole, with light traversing the galleries, illuminating arches, columns, and capitals, and making the architecture's geometry visible. The gardens will be lit with a soft light, and the fountains will reflect the sky, accompanied by a soundscape blending natural sounds with ethereal musical textures.
