American singer Olivia Rodrigo gave a
surprise
performance this Friday night at Barcelona's Teatre Grec. The event was part of a collaboration between the Spotify platform and FC Barcelona, and was intended for a select group of fans who received free invitations from Spotify, based on their loyalty as listeners of the artist, who has over 60 million monthly listeners on the platform.
This performance is part of the Billions Club Live initiative, a series of private and exclusive concerts organized by Spotify with artists who have surpassed one billion streams on one of their songs. During the concert, hits such as Good 4 you, Drivers license, Traitor, Vampire, and Deja vu were played, in addition to the single Drop dead, which is part of her third album, scheduled for release in June.
However, the event has been criticized by numerous fans who, despite having a Spotify invitation and waiting in long queues, were unable to access the venue. According to witnesses, the announcement of gate closure due to full capacity was made just minutes before the concert began, after hours of waiting. The invitation emails already specified that entry did not guarantee access and that capacity was limited.
In other news, the singer's logo, with the initials OR, will be visible on the FC Barcelona men's team jersey in this Sunday's league match against Real Madrid. This action has been carried out previously with other artists such as The Rolling Stones, Drake, Rosalía, Travis Scott, and Ed Sheeran. The Barça women's team also wore the artist's initials in their match against Levante, where they celebrated their league title.
Finally, it has been confirmed that the American artist will offer four concerts at Barcelona's Palau Sant Jordi on May 1, 2, 5, and 6, 2027, as part of her The Unraveled Tour. Tickets for these events have been available since this Thursday. The tour will begin on September 25 in the United States and will visit several European cities, coinciding with the release of her new album, You seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, this June.
