The Barcelona council has greenlit a renovation project with a budget of 1.7 million euros. The initiative, initially approved in April, is currently undergoing public exhibition until June 18, during which citizens can submit their objections.
Once the exhibition period concludes, the tendering process for the works will commence. The farmhouse, formerly known as Cal Paretó, dates back to the 19th century and is in a state of significant disrepair. Despite its age, the property lacks official cataloging for protection.
The renovation works will include measures such as roof waterproofing, shoring to ensure safety during construction, wall reinforcement, and crack repair. An elevator and an evacuation staircase will also be installed, along with a metal pergola on the facade.
The planned future uses for the Can Bruixa farmhouse include the creation of a space for users of the community gardens and the provision of rooms dedicated to the neighborhood's memory, thus integrating history and community into the new space.
