The Roquetes City Council has finished repairing four municipal roads in June, including La Caramella and Bandejats-Reguers Nou, and plans to invest over €1.3 million in seven additional routes.

The Roquetes City Council concluded the improvement of four municipal roads in June, expanding the network of over 200 kilometers within the municipality. The work focused on the roads of La Caramella, Bandejats-Reguers Nou, Pocateula, and Forcallet. These projects precede future interventions on seven more roads, with a total public investment exceeding 1.3 million euros.
Mayor Ivan Garcia highlighted the importance of these annual investments in ensuring access to farms for farmers and ranchers. "We know the area needs more work, we are aware of it. But we can also demonstrate that year after year the investment we make in municipal roads is extremely important to serve citizens, farmers, and ranchers so they can access their properties in the best way possible," he stated.
For the La Caramella road, the City Council reached an agreement with two gravel extraction companies, who covered the full cost of the project. The work involved raising the road level to improve drainage and applying a double bituminous treatment to ensure year-round usability.
The roads Bandejats-Reguers Nou, Pocateula, and Forcallet were conditioned using public funds, primarily from higher administrations, as a result of damage from the 2024 DANA (cold drop). With an investment of €256,000, funded by nearly 90% from contributions by the Ministry of Territorial Policy (€128,284.72) and the Provincial Council of Tarragona (€100,000), the height of these three roads was increased, and a recycled concrete material finish was applied for greater durability.
Looking ahead, the repair of the Sant Francesc road is one of the next planned actions through the Tortosa-Roquetes Commonwealth. With a budget of €543,465.60 and a subsidy of €255,000 from the Provincial Council of Tarragona, work will include paving, verge cleaning, and pothole repair.
Furthermore, during the upcoming year, the roads of Galatxo, Mitanplana, Pandorga, and Barranc de l’Os, affected by the 2025 DANA, will be conditioned. This project, costing €357,000, will receive subsidies from the Provincial Council of Tarragona (€180,000) and the Generalitat de Catalunya (€67,742.75). Critical points in Galatxo will be concreted, Mitanplana will be improved with a double asphalt treatment, and Pandorga and Barranc de l’Os will be adapted using aggregate.
Finally, a third package of repairs will include the roads of Bandejats and Panxablanca, with an allocation of €208,000 dedicated to improving the road surface.
