The union has sent a letter to the manager of the Institut Català de la Salut (ICS) and the Minister of Health, demanding an immediate response. This request comes after Hospital Clínic de Barcelona had to preventively isolate a woman, considered a contact and not a patient, linked to a hantavirus death case involving a Dutch citizen.
The union criticizes that healthcare professionals are "in the spotlight, exposed and unprotected," drawing a parallel with the initial management of the COVID-19 pandemic. This situation generates great concern among staff, who feel vulnerable due to the lack of resources and clear guidelines.
“"We will not tolerate putting the health of professionals at risk again; their protection is non-negotiable."
Beyond the epidemiological alert, CSIF directly points to the Generalitat for a systematic "disregard" towards the healthcare sector. The union also warns of "hidden cuts" in hospitals, such as hiring caps and structural overload of staff. The union demands an end to "improvisation" in the face of potential epidemics, calling for adequate planning and resources to protect both professionals and citizens.
