Around fifty Nestlé workers gathered this midday outside the group's central offices in Esplugues de Llobregat to oppose the redundancy plan (ERO) that anticipates 178 job cuts in Catalonia.

The protest, called by CCOO, took place while the second meeting between the company's management and the works council was being held at a hotel in Barcelona. According to Mireia Roig, a CCOO delegate, the ERO "has no justification whatsoever" given the company's profitable situation, attributing it to a "structural change".
This mobilization occurs five days after workers from Nestlé plants in Girona and Reus, where the ERO affects 12 and 8 employees respectively, also voiced their rejection of the multinational's plans.
The company's management argues that the ERO, affecting 301 workers nationwide, is due to factors such as the rise of private label brands, digitalization, and automation, aiming to ensure future viability. However, CCOO considers the layoffs unjustified and requests more information, deeming the presented report "ambiguous". The union also highlights the young workforce and proposes early retirement for those over 60 as an alternative.
