The strike, called by the CCOO and CSIF unions, focuses on the increase in workload and new responsibilities taken on by professionals, without this being accompanied by an increase in staff.
According to union organizations, the situation is expected to be more critical during the summer, as Correos will only cover 30% of the employees who will be on vacation, a figure that represents a significant reduction compared to the 300 contracts of the previous summer, dropping to just 121 this year. This will lead to additional overload for the workers.
“"The fact that a minimum of 50% of vacations have not been covered is an abuse by the company's management."
The first day of stoppage, held last week, had a 70% turnout according to the unions, leading to the closure of several offices, a situation that could be repeated this Tuesday.
The unions criticize that, despite Correos presenting its offices as a strategic axis for its future with new activities, the reality on the ground shows overload and professionals "at their limit," accusing the company of prioritizing cost-cutting over the quality of public service.
Meetings held with the company's management in early June have not achieved significant progress. CCOO and CSIF emphasize that the strike is not against the public, but aims to guarantee the provision of public services.
