The visit of Pope Leo XIV to Barcelona, from June 9 to 11, will involve a special security and mobility operation with numerous restrictions for residents and businesses, particularly in Ciutat Vella.

The Barcelona City Council and the Mossos d'Esquadra have designed a plan that will affect the areas around the Cathedral and the Episcopal Palace, as well as streets in the Raval near the church of Sant Agustí and Plaça Gardunya. These zones will face traffic and parking restrictions from Monday, June 8, to Thursday, June 11.
Measures include a ban on parking on streets such as Avinguda Catedral, Plaça Gardunya, Carrer Hospital, Carrer Jerusalem, and Carrer Arc de Sant Agustí. Total traffic closures and access controls are also planned during peak times, limiting entry for residents and businesses to those who can prove their residency or activity.
The papal visit will unfold over three days. June 9 is scheduled for the pontiff's arrival and events at the Cathedral and the Olympic Stadium of Montjuïc. June 10 will feature the main events in Ciutat Vella and at the Sagrada Família, with departure and progressive deactivation of the operation on June 11. The plan aims to ensure the smooth running of events, inform citizens, and facilitate a positive experience for both visitors and residents.
