The guided tour cycle to bring the history of the Palau del Marquès d’Alfarràs closer to citizens resumes this Wednesday, September 2nd. This space boasts significant heritage value and is cataloged as a Local Heritage Asset.
Tours will take place every Sunday and Wednesday at 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM until June 2027, excluding the Christmas and Easter holiday periods. Participation is free but requires prior registration via the website, where a form must be completed and the desired date selected. Confirmation will be sent by email, and the maximum capacity per tour is 25 people.
The Palau del Marquès d’Alfarràs, also known as Palau Desvalls, has a history spanning over a thousand years. The Sobirana Tower, dating from the 11th century, is classified as a National Heritage Asset. The building reopened fully renovated in June 2025, after more than two years of works led by Parks and Gardens.
The origins of the building date back to the 11th century as a watchtower. In the 18th century, Joan Antoni Desvalls, Marquis of Alfarràs, began the construction of the current palace and gardens. Since 1968, the property and gardens have been municipally owned. Since 1993, a part of the palace has housed the Labyrinth Training Center, offering courses in gardening, agriculture, and biodiversity.
The Labyrinth gardens, covering over 10 hectares distributed across three levels, feature spaces from various eras and styles. The lowest level includes the trimmed cypress maze, currently undergoing rehabilitation.
