The transformation works in the area located between Mare de Déu de Port, Vilageliu and Gavaldà streets and the Ferrocarrils Catalans avenue, in the Marina de Port neighborhood, have now begun. This initiative, promoted by the Municipal Urban Planning Institute (IMU), will improve existing public spaces and create new resting and garden areas over an area of almost 2,850 m².
The project is part of the Program for Proximity and Interior Spaces, which aims to renaturalize and adapt urban spaces to climate change. The goal is to complete the urban configuration of the neighborhood, organizing the open space associated with future residential developments and improving the connection between different areas of Marina de Port.
The intervention, with a budget of approximately 582,000 euros and an estimated duration of six months, is divided into three zones: the integral renovation of Vilageliu and Gavaldà street with landscaped flowerbeds, the creation of a passage area within the block, and the urbanization of the sidewalk on Ferrocarrils Catalans avenue.
Around forty new trees will be planted, including species such as love trees, stone pines, and tipuanas, to increase shade and biodiversity. Approximately twenty new high-efficiency LED lighting points will also be installed to enhance nighttime safety.
