The municipal group Compromís, led by Pere Fuset, has highlighted the absence of city music bands in the parade on January 7, 2026, a fact they consider unprecedented and which has caused discomfort among musical societies. This decision, made by the government of María José Catalá (PP) and Vox, involved replacing traditional groups (tabal i dolçaina) with loudspeakers on the floats.
Another major criticism focuses on the inclusion of the Greek goddess Selene, officially presented in the city council's press release. Fuset described it as “hypocritical and absurd” that the government censors Valencian characters for not being biblical, while incorporating figures from Greek mythology. He also questioned whether the inclusion of Selene is considered heresy.
“"It is hypocritical and absurd to censor Valencian characters for not being biblical, while the Holy Family paraded under Ikea carpets and a goddess from Greek mythology has been hired."
Finally, Compromís has requested explanations for the reduction of participation by neighborhood and civic entities in favor of sponsoring companies. The councilman denounced unequal situations, such as the payment to Levante UD for its participation, while València CF attended for free. Furthermore, the administrative file has been requested to clarify the presence of the Bioparc brand.
