The sports facilities at the football 11 field in Teixonera, within the Horta-Guinardó district, and the rugby field at Foixarda, in Sants-Montjuïc, now feature new turf. These improvements are part of a shock plan for the enhancement and maintenance of sports facilities in the city, agreed with ERC, representing a total investment of 10 million euros.
At the Teixonera football field, the artificial turf has been replaced with a new one featuring an elastic base and silica sand infill, adhering to technical specifications. The work included field markings for football 11 and 7 according to FIFA standards, replacement of goals and safety nets, and the installation of a new drainage channel. The project covered an area of 5,680 m² with a budget of 650,000 euros.
Regarding the Foixarda rugby field, the investment amounted to approximately 1.1 million euros. The works have expanded the pitch dimensions and replaced the artificial turf with a latest-generation version with organic infill. The irrigation system has also been improved, and modifications were made to the field's sides to increase its width. The project covered an area of 9,920 m².
These upgrades align with the Barcelona Institute of Sports's objective to modernize the city's sports facilities, which required updating due to continuous use. The initiatives are part of a broader plan that has seen turf renovations at numerous municipal fields in recent years.
