The former 'Bòbila Carmen' in Plaça Adolf Marsillach, La Teixonera neighborhood, is nearing completion of its transformation into a cultural and associative hub. The renovation project, with an investment of €6.7 million, is expected to finish in spring 2027.

The rehabilitation of the emblematic 'Bòbila Carmen' brick factory, located in Plaça Adolf Marsillach in the La Teixonera neighborhood of Horta-Guinardó, is in its final stages. The removal of scaffolding reveals the transformation of this historic building, which will become a space to promote the activity of the neighborhood's cultural, social, and community entities. The project, which recovers architectural heritage, is scheduled for full completion in the spring of 2027. Concurrently, accessibility to the facility from the square is being improved.
Construction began in early summer 2025 and has included tasks such as roof asbestos removal, insulation treatments, demolition, foundation work, and facade restoration. Currently, work is underway on the roof finishes, and in the coming weeks, photovoltaic panels will be installed, along with flooring, carpentry, and various systems including elevators, plumbing, and air conditioning.
On the ground floor, formerly used for firing ceramic material, about ten rooms for shared use by entities will be created, connected by a central corridor. The first floor will feature a large 370 m² hall with independent access, two rehearsal rooms, and another multipurpose room.
The Espai Bòbila-Taxonera aims to support and boost the neighborhood's social and cultural fabric, providing spaces for entities and fostering citizen participation. Management will be professionalized, combined with active participation from local associations in programming.
The Bòbila is Barcelona's last remaining brick factory, built in 1906 and operational for over 100 years. Spanning approximately 780 m², the unique building will regain its purpose as a civic and associative space.
