This year's personal distinction went to Jesús Senra, guitarist and co-founder of the Spanish Indie Rock reference band, Sidonie. The jury, composed of elected officials, highlighted his successful musical career since he founded the group in 1997 alongside Marc Ros and Axel Pi. Recently, Sidonie released their twelfth album, Catalan Graffiti, their first entirely in Catalan.
The award for the best entity project went to the Fundació Via – Guasp for its program “Cercles. Xarxes de suport contra la soledat no volguda” (Circles. Support networks against unwanted loneliness). This initiative seeks to improve the social situation of people with mental health issues who are isolated, through a professionally coordinated volunteer network.
The Group of Gay, Lesbian, Trans, Bisexual, Intersex, and Queer Friends (GAG) received the distinction for entity anniversaries upon reaching its 25th anniversary. For a quarter of a century, GAG has defended the rights of the LGTBI collective from the Ateneu Harmonia, offering reception services, legal advice, and emotional support. Their work was previously recognized with the Medal of Honor of the city of Barcelona in 2021.
The event, which marked the start of the Festa Major de Sant Andreu, was presided over by the District Councillor, Marta Villanueva, and the President, Rosa Suriñach. The ceremony featured the presence of the Colomí, a figure of the Germandat Andreuenca, and a musical performance by the cello quartet ‘Quatre Piques’ from the Escola Municipal de Música de Sant Andreu. The special prize, intended for cultural and community projects, was declared void.
