Driver in Fatal Cercs Accident Invaded Opposite Lane

The Mossos d'Esquadra confirmed that the vehicle involved in the fatal accident on December 29 on the C-16, near Cercs, invaded the opposite lane, leading to the deaths of two children from Mallorca.

The traffic accident that occurred in late December in Cercs, in the Berguedà region, and which caused the death of two children from a family in Mallorca, happened when the vehicle with a single occupant invaded the opposite lane and impacted head-on against the car carrying the family. The children, aged four and five, died in the hospital a few days after the crash, which occurred around nine at night on December 29.
The three adults who survived the collision —the children's parents and the driver responsible— remain hospitalized in serious condition. The Mossos d'Esquadra, in charge of the investigation, confirmed that alcohol and drug detection tests were performed on both drivers at the health centers, although the results have not been made public.

Kilometer point 101 of the C-16, where the incident occurred, has been repeatedly denounced by the Cercs City Council as an area of extreme danger.
