The Gironella City Council, led by David Font, has initially approved an ordinance to regulate cannabis clubs, proactively addressing future requests and ensuring neighborhood coexistence.

The Gironella City Council has given initial approval to an ordinance regulating cannabis clubs, even though there are currently no requests for establishment. Mayor David Font (Més x Gironella) emphasized that the goal is to prevent neighborhood conflicts, such as those recently experienced in Berga.

"To regulate a potential reality that may arise in the future, always guaranteeing neighborhood coexistence and public health."

The location criteria are highly restrictive. Clubs must maintain a minimum distance of 100 meters from cultural or sports facilities, 300 meters from educational or health centers, and 500 meters between clubs. This regulation excludes over 80% of the municipal area, including the center of Gironella, allowing installation only in areas like Cap del Pla or Viladomiu Vell.
The regulation also sets technical conditions such as a maximum usable area of 100 m², capacity limited by safety standards, independent access from residential blocks, and extraction and ventilation systems up to the roof. The City Council will be able to exercise control and impose sanctions, including provisional closure of the activity if necessary.
