The Generalitat Firefighters intervened this morning in the center of Berga to secure the balconies of a building located at the intersection of Gran Via street and Cervantes street.

The alert was received shortly before 10 a.m., reporting the fall of plaster fragments from two balconies at number 28 Gran Via street. To carry out safety measures, two fire crews were deployed, including an aerial ladder truck that allowed access to the structure from the outside.
The crews proceeded to remove unstable parts and performed the necessary shoring tasks to ensure the stability of the affected elements. At the same time, the Berga Local Police cordoned off the area to prevent pedestrian access and ensure safety, while technical services from the City Council conducted an initial assessment of the building's condition.
As a preventive measure, the local government reported that targeted maintenance will be carried out on other balcony slabs with similar plastering. Additionally, protective netting will be installed on the facade, along with a safety arch to ensure secure access to the ground floor of the building, which houses a commercial pharmacy, until the property owners carry out permanent repairs.
