The Festival de Poesia Vila de Gironella reaches its twelfth edition with a program that combines poetry, music, creation, and activities for diverse audiences. The event will take place during October and November in various locations within the town, with the collaboration of the Culture Department and the Gironella Library.
Recitals will be the central focus. On October 16th, Jordi Llavina, Jaume Coll Mariné, and Alba Badal will participate, accompanied by music from Alejandro Nano. On October 23rd, it will be the turn of Francesc Gelonch, Mireia Casanyes, and Maria Tubau, with music by Nil Mejías. The recitals will conclude on October 30th with Maria Isern, Lídia Gázquez, and Elena Sixto, featuring music by Elena Escudero.
The program is complemented by a poetry workshop on October 8th with Josep Pedrals, a poetic-sound action on November 15th by Fame Chimica, and other activities that explore poetry beyond the recital format. The town's shop windows will be adorned with verses thanks to the collaboration of the Gironella Merchants Association and Evam Lletres, and the Traversant initiative will also decorate pedestrian crossings with words.
One of this year's novelties is the Quick Poetry Contest, scheduled for November 7th, which will invite children aged 10 and up and adults to create poetry based on prompts.
The graphic image for the 12th edition is by poet Chantal Poch, inspired by 'The Princess and the Pea' to connect poetry with a child's perspective and imagination. This theme also inspires the exhibition 'La poesia abans de la poesia' at the Library.
Since its inception in 2015, the Festival de Poesia Vila de Gironella aims to bring poetry closer to the region and foster dialogue with other artistic languages and audiences of all ages.
