MP Andrés Garcia Berrio, representing Catalunya En Comú, has presented a set of questions to Parliament to ascertain the government's criteria for defining emergency services in the Pyrenees. The party wants to know if all counties within Alt Pirineu and Aran will be integrated into a single Emergency Region with full competencies.
One of the primary concerns raised is the reason why Cerdanya remains functionally linked to the Manresa area for fire and emergency services. The Comuns question the logic of this arrangement and ask if it is considered appropriate to decouple Cerdanya's fire service from the Manresa area and integrate it into its own structure within the Alt Pirineu.
According to the parliamentary group, the current organization of emergency services and territorial services of the Generalitat in Alt Pirineu and Aran, which still follows a provincial logic, hinders territorial cohesion and does not align with a Pyrenean vegueria vision.
Information has also been requested regarding the deployment schedule for the emergency region and pending territorial services, as well as the human, material, and budgetary resources to be allocated. The Comuns question the operational dependence on Lleida or Manresa and ask if the impact of maintaining fragmented administrative dependencies on coordination and response speed in emergency situations within the Pyrenean territory has been evaluated.
Finally, the government is being questioned about measures to ensure Cerdanya assumes its rightful role within the territorial organization of Alt Pirineu and Aran. It asks how the fact that Cerdanya, despite its strong economic and demographic dynamism, continues to lack certain specific territorial services, such as those for Business and Labour and Economy, is being assessed, and what the planned timeline is for their implementation and full deployment.
The government has also been asked if it has evaluated the functioning of the territorial services already established in Sort, Pont de Suert, and other Pyrenean municipalities, and what actions are planned to strengthen those currently deemed insufficient. Furthermore, it inquires whether the territorial deployment model in Alt Pirineu and Aran will be reviewed to avoid duplication and imbalances between counties.
