The initiative, organized by Cerdanya Cycling Culture, PerTot. The Sheriff, and the Llívia Town Council, aims to position the Pyrenees region as a national benchmark for mountain gravel cycling. The Grava Lybica acts as a catalyst for this ambitious projection.
The event is defined as a weekend of self-sufficient high-mountain adventure, with Llívia as the starting point. Over 140 cyclists have registered for the events scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The proposal includes routes on forest tracks, paths, and border trails, with timed sections but no overall classification, fostering a pressure-free experience.
The social hub of the weekend will be La Foguera, a village set up in Sant Guillem park. This area will offer music, talks, food trucks, beer, and children's activities, as well as serving as a platform for local products, village businesses, and the culture of Cerdanya. The event is supported by more than twenty local, regional, and national companies.
The Grava Lybica will also raise awareness and support for the social initiative Bicicletes sense fronteres (Bicycles without borders). This organization uses cycling as a tool for mobility and inclusion to help hundreds of students in Senegal access education.
