This activity, organized by local ranchers and the Llívia Town Council, revives an ancient tradition dating back to before the Treaty of the Pyrenees. Participants will experience firsthand the journey of approximately 400 head of livestock, including horses and cows, from Llívia to La Bollosa, where they will spend the summer months grazing on fresh mountain grass.
The day will begin at 7:15 AM with coffee and cake for registered participants at the intersection of Cereja road and Bulloses street. From this point, the ascent with the livestock will commence. Around 1:00 PM, a communal lunch will be held at the outdoor tables of the refuge in La Bollosa. The activity costs 12 euros per person and includes bus transport, morning coffee, dessert, drinks, and coffee with lunch, although participants must bring their own main meal for lunch.
For those needing transportation, buses will be available for ascending and descending to La Bollosa. The Llívia Town Council will also offer a service to transport backpacks and bags to La Bollosa to ease the hike. Pre-registration at the Llívia Museum office is essential before June 5. Participants are advised to be well-equipped with comfortable footwear and clothing, carry water and food, and be in good physical condition, as the hike is over 4 hours with an elevation gain of about 800 meters. In case of bad weather, the activity may be canceled.
Most of Llívia's pastures, totaling over 1,300 hectares, are currently located within the municipality of Angostrina, with the remainder in Bolquera and Font-romeu, keeping alive an essential part of the region's heritage and pastoral culture.
