A forest fire broke out this Friday in the municipality of Pontils, in the Conca de Barberà region, requiring the mobilization of 23 crews from the Generalitat Firefighters, five of which are aerial units.

The fire began shortly before 3:00 PM, according to initial alerts to the 112 emergency number, originating in a stubble field. Initially, 13 ground crews and five aerial units were deployed due to the risk of flames reaching nearby forest mass.
The fire rapidly intensified, crossing the agricultural zone and entering a small mountain covered in forest vegetation. After reaching the summit, the flames began to descend the other side, complicating extinction efforts.
Due to the fire's evolution, the Firefighters department has reinforced the operation to 23 crews. Personnel are working to contain the spread of the flames, which have already started to create secondary ignitions, increasing the difficulty of the task.
Currently, there is no information on whether the fire has necessitated protective measures for the population or the extent of the affected area.
