Montblanc has become the third municipality with more than 1,000 inhabitants with the highest income per inhabitant in the province of Tarragona, according to data from Idescat.

The capital of the Conca de Barberà records an average income of 21,055 euros per inhabitant, a figure that exceeds both the provincial average of 17,040 euros and the Catalan average of 20,789 euros. This rise has allowed the town to climb from the eighth position it held in 2022 to the current third place, only behind Almoster and Castellvell del Camp.
The mayor of Montblanc has highlighted the economic dynamism of the area, linked to a low structural unemployment rate of 5% and the presence of qualified professional profiles in the companies established in the municipality. Furthermore, the importance of the geographical location and improvements in communication infrastructure, such as the A-27 motorway and the Coll de Lilla tunnel, which have facilitated connections with other industrial and service hubs, has been emphasized.
The demographic growth of the town, in contrast to the population loss in other villages in the region, has also been noted as a relevant factor. New housing developments, focused on houses and villas, have attracted residents with a higher income level, although the local government warns of the need to continue working to address the shortage of available housing.
