With the aim of ensuring a safe, civic, and respectful celebration of public spaces, the council will implement specific measures to prevent street drinking and public disturbances, particularly during the local festival and days with major events.
The ordinance, approved in the last municipal plenary session, will come into effect on August 1st. This date coincides with the concert by the band Els Catarres and will apply throughout the entire duration of the local festival.
Financial penalties will range from 750 euros for minor infractions to 3,000 euros for the most serious offenses. The mayor of Solivella, Rosa Maria Salvadó, emphasized the local government's commitment to eradicating these practices and preventing the litter they cause in the streets.
Salvadó argued that citizens already contribute financially to the organization of the local festival, and it is considered unfair to allocate additional municipal resources to cleaning services due to the waste generated by street drinking gatherings.
The mayor advocated for a festival model based on coexistence, respect, and responsibility, aiming for everyone to enjoy the activities without conflicts or uncivil behavior. Solivella thus becomes the first municipality in the Conca de Barberà region to implement specific measures against street drinking during local celebrations.
