The L'Espluga de Francolí City Council is undertaking improvement and renovation works on the municipal drinking water network, aiming to reduce losses, enhance performance, and strengthen supply system control.

The project, supported by the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), involves interventions at various points in the municipality, prioritizing sections identified as problematic by the Water Service. Works include pipe renewal, connection improvements, and the incorporation of hydraulic control elements for more efficient management and leak detection.
The work is being carried out in several areas, including the vicinity of the football field, Carrer de la Sortida, Carrer de Sant Miquel, Carretera de Poblet, and Passeig Cañellas, minimizing traffic disruptions.
The project also includes the installation of sectoral meters and remote control systems to monitor flow rates and pressures, detect abnormal consumption, and locate water losses. The company CALAF TRENCHING, S.L. is executing the work, with a base tender budget of 215,207.99 euros (excluding VAT), and receives a subsidy of 187,363.80 euros from the ACA.
These works complement the network digitization project, which has replaced 809 water meters with new devices featuring remote reading (540 in the urban center and 269 in the Carreras urbanization). Through these interventions, the network's performance is projected to reach 75%, potentially saving 147,238 cubic meters of water annually and advancing towards more sustainable water resource management.
