A forest and agricultural vegetation fire in Cervià de les Garrigues has forced the evacuation of eight houses and prompted a shelter-in-place order for residents due to southerly winds fanning the flames.

Emergency services are working this afternoon to extinguish a fire that broke out in Cervià de les Garrigues, in the Les Garrigues region. The blaze, affecting forest and agricultural land, has necessitated the precautionary evacuation of eight homes. Additionally, Civil Protection has issued an ES-Alert message ordering residents in the Partida de la Devesa area to shelter in place.
The alert was received shortly before 3 PM, with approximately forty crews from the Generalitat Firefighters, including eight aerial units, focusing their efforts on containing the right flank of the fire and protecting structures on the left flank, both driven by southerly winds. The fire has led to traffic closures on roads LP-7073 (between L'Albi and Cervià) and LV-7031 (between Cervià and Les Borges Blanques). So far, the fire has burned an estimated nine hectares.

"We are making several drops on the right flank of the fire to try to close it. With ground crews, we continue to work to reduce the intensity of the left flank. We are currently on site with 42 crews."
