The City Council of Les Borges Blanques has ordered the sanitary sacrifice of an undetermined number of pigs and poultry at an irregular livestock farm located in polygon 510 of the municipality.

Municipal services found that the facility lacked the pertinent registration and exploitation code, as well as the necessary health documentation to prove the origin and traceability of the animals.
Given this situation, the council prohibited any animal movement and urgently requested the agreement for sacrifice from the Department of Agriculture of the Generalitat, which was carried out last Thursday.
This action occurs amidst a high alert for African swine fever (ASF), an outbreak that remains active in the Barcelona area and requires the sector to enhance biosecurity measures.
The Generalitat recently confirmed two new ASF cases in wild boars in Barcelona and Sant Just Desvern, bringing the total number of affected wild boars to 375 since the outbreak began, all located in the metropolitan area. Since late November, 10,700 specimens have been analyzed, with 10,325 testing negative.
Finally, the City Council of Les Borges Blanques has reported that the costs associated with the sacrifice, removal, and destruction of the animals, as well as the cleaning and disinfection of the farm, will be charged to the legally responsible individual.
