High schools in five Catalan regions have celebrated total success in the University Entrance Exams (PAU), with all registered students passing the tests. Garrotxa is particularly notable, as the 210 students who took the exam passed with an average score of 6.817.
Other territories with similar results include Pla d’Estany and Pallars Jussà, each with over a hundred students, achieving averages of 7.003 and 6.388 respectively. Segarra, with 77 students, reached an average of 6.529, while in Ribera d’Ebre, the 54 enrolled students achieved an overall score of 6.496.
These regions have also recorded a small difference between the PAU exam scores and the high school academic record. In Catalonia, the PAU average is 1.24 points lower than the academic record, but in areas like Garrotxa, Ribera d’Ebre, or Montsià, this gap is less than one point.
Pla de l’Estany not only achieved a full pass rate but also recorded the highest average score in the PAU, with 7.003. This figure surpasses that of Montsià (6.566). The highest individual score in the selectivity exam, a 9.90, was achieved by a student from Banyoles, the capital of Pla de l'Estany.
Overall in Catalonia, 32,425 students passed the selectivity exams, representing 96.45% of those examined. The PAU average stands at 6.414, almost one and a half points below the high school average (7.69). The overall qualification, which weighs the academic record and the selectivity exam, is 7.180.
Subjects with the highest average scores include Vocal Technique (nearly 8.5). Languages have improved compared to the previous year, despite a slight dip in English. History and History of Philosophy have also risen, hovering around 6.5. In contrast, Mathematics showed a widespread failure rate, with the lowest score in a decade (4.18).
