A 51-year-old cyclist was airlifted to Olot Regional Hospital on Thursday afternoon, following an accident on a trail in Sant Joan les Fonts.

The incident occurred on a trail located between Batet de la Serra and Begudà, within the municipality of Sant Joan les Fonts. The man collided with a tree while cycling, sustaining injuries.
The Generalitat Fire Department received the alert at five fifty-five in the afternoon via the 112 emergency number. A ground unit and a helicopter with personnel from the joint GRAE and Medical Emergency System (SEM) unit were immediately dispatched.
The cyclist reported severe cervical pain and had difficulty moving his neck. Emergency services attended to him at the scene of the accident, immobilizing him with a cervical collar and a vacuum mattress before extracting him from the area.
Once stabilized, the man was transported by helicopter to the Olot fire station, where an SEM ambulance was waiting. He was then taken to Olot Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
