The initiative, driven by a group of enthusiasts from La Garrotxa, emerged after their participation in similar competitions across Catalonia. The goal was to bring this hobby to the municipality, and the contest was a resounding success in terms of participation.
Contestants from various regions tested their speed, concentration, and teamwork skills to complete the same puzzle in the shortest possible time. The competition was divided into two main categories: teams and pairs.
In the team category, with seven participating formations, the victory went to ‘Llaneras Solitarias’ (Mireia Pagès, Cristina Cabrera, Verònica Fontbona, and Edgar Fernández), who completed the puzzle in 1 hour, 19 minutes, and 48 seconds. ‘Las Arrejuntadas’ came in second, and ‘Última Peça’ completed the podium, also becoming the best local team from La Garrotxa. ‘Les disperses’ also received an award in this regional category.
In the afternoon, the pairs category featured 22 teams. The victory was secured by Mireia Pagès and Cristina Cabrera, with a time of 37 minutes and 55 seconds. Alba Navarro and Ada Sitjar took second place, while Verònica Fontbona and Francisco Fernández were third.
Regarding the local award for La Garrotxa in the pairs category, the recognition went to Laura Castellarnau and Laia Castellarnau, the best regional pair, completing the challenge in 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 14 seconds.
The organization highly values the event and is already working to ensure the contest's continuity in future editions, aiming to establish Sant Joan les Fonts as a benchmark for puzzle enthusiasts.
