Last Saturday, July 11th, a drill was conducted in Sant Joan les Fonts to evaluate coordination and response capacity for the arrival of a group of refugee individuals. The exercise involved the collaboration of Civil Protection of Olot and Garrotxa.
The emergency services designated the Sociocultural Center as a temporary accommodation space for large groups. Necessary arrangements were made for the first night, including the installation of temporary beds, the setup of a food point, and the separation of spaces by gender.
The exercise simulated the reception and care of individuals during their first night, ensuring accommodation and coverage of basic needs. A group of participants recreated the route along the Camí dels Missioners del Sagrat Cor.
These drills are considered essential for improving the preparedness of emergency services, strengthening coordination among various stakeholders, and ensuring an effective response to emergency situations.
Special thanks were extended to B-Crek Olot for providing the food that would be used in a real mass emergency scenario.
