From October 9th to 13th, Les Preses will host a new edition of the Gala de les Preses, its main festival. For five days, the town's streets, squares, and facilities will be filled with music, dance, popular culture, family activities, sports, theater, sardanes, popular meals, and events for children and youth, as well as traditional evening dances and concerts.
This year's celebration will include several significant moments. The Esbart Marboleny, celebrating its 50th anniversary, will deliver the opening speech for the festival, recognizing its contribution to the cultural life of Les Preses. The Gala will also revive the traditional Tritllo de Festa Major, performed by the Escola de Campaners, and will bring the Gegants, the Granota, and the Calabotins back to the streets, accompanied by the Grallers i Timbalers de les Preses.
The program begins on Friday, October 9th, with a batucada by students from the upper cycle of Escola la Bòbila, parades of traditional figures, bell ringing, the opening speech by Marboleny, and a popular dinner including the election of the Pubilla and l'Hereu. Saturday, October 10th, offers activities for all ages, such as a petanque championship, a lace-making gathering, Ballem en família (family dance), a sung vermouth, a botifarra championship, the 'La Gran Empastifada!' challenge, an 80s and 90s popular evening, theater, and youth events.
Sunday, October 11th, will feature traditional music, the dance of the Gegants, the Granota, and the Calabotins, sardanes, a Catalan bowling championship, a popular lunch, football, and a Youth Festival night with Oktoberfest and a major concert. Monday, October 12th, the central day, will include the Fireta (fair), the traditional festival concert with the Orquestra Internacional Maravella, sardanes, parades, the Ball de les Cintes (ribbon dance), dances of the traditional figures, and the grand Gala concert, concluding with a night parade and a performance by the Cercle de Cultura Tradicional i Popular Marboleny.
The Gala will extend until Tuesday, October 13th, with the family magic show Impossible!, by Eduard Juanola, and the traditional end-of-festival snack.
The Town Council of Les Preses and the Festival Committee express their gratitude for the involvement of all entities, associations, artists, musicians, volunteers, municipal workers, businesses, and individuals who make the annual celebration of the Gala possible.
