The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food has opened the registration period for the 3rd National Awards for Best Extra Virgin Olive Oils of Catalonia, corresponding to the year 2026. Registration begins on October 27th and ends on November 13th.

The awards aim to recognize the best extra virgin olive oils produced in Catalonia and promote their marketing and consumption. This edition introduces new categories, including one for limited productions (batches of 300 to 500 liters) and a new award for the best oleotourism initiative.
The award categories cover oils from large producers (over 3,000 liters), small producers (500-3,000 liters), limited productions (300-500 liters), organic production certified by the CCPAE, varietal oils (traditional Catalan and other varieties), best pairing, best packaging, best oils from large and small producers, and the best oleotourism initiative.
Interested companies must meet the requirements outlined in the regulations, including that the olive trees are located in Catalonia and the oils comply with current regulations. A public fee must be paid for each oil submitted.
Applications for the oleotourism award must include a descriptive report. Oil sample collection will take place between November 16th and 25th. Applications can be submitted through the electronic portal of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
