Girona FC concluded the first half of the championship with a crucial victory against Osasuna, reaching 21 points and a four-point margin above the relegation zone, despite a very difficult start.

The comeback by Girona is remarkable, as after the fifth matchday they were in last position with only one point. Finishing the first half with 21 points and a four-point margin over the eighteenth classified team, Valencia, is a result the most optimistic fan would have signed for. Coach Míchel admitted having misjudged the initial phase of the season, but has managed to turn the situation around.
This recovery occurred despite serious injuries to key players such as Van de Beek and Portu, who are out for the season, and other important elements like Lemar, David López, Stuani, and Ounahi. The four-point cushion was consolidated by linking two consecutive victories for the first time against direct rivals: Mallorca (1-2) and Osasuna (1-0).
The red-and-white team was bottom of the table for nine matchdays, but the maximum distance from safety never exceeded two points. Individual performance has improved, with Vanat standing out as the top scorer with five league goals, breaking the tie with Viktor Tsygankov (4).
Among the players most used by Míchel, Àlex Moreno stands out, having accumulated 1,575 minutes in seventeen games, not missing a minute since the second matchday. Goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga is second with 1,574 minutes. The balance of the first half is five wins, six draws, and eight losses, with 18 goals scored and 34 conceded.
