The 23rd edition of the Rally Costa Brava Històric, a regularity event for historic vehicles, begins tomorrow, Thursday, in Sant Feliu de Guíxols and will run until Sunday in Castelló d'Empúries, with the participation of 105 teams from a dozen countries.

The promenade of Empuriabrava hosted the official presentation of the event, which for the second consecutive year repeats the formula of a shared base. The ceremony was attended by institutional representatives such as the Deputy for Sports of the Girona Provincial Council, Jordi Masquef, and the mayor of Castelló d'Empúries, Anna Massot.
Jordi Masquef highlighted the importance of these sporting events as an "instrument for promotion, economic dynamization, and tourist de-seasonalisation." The Rally Costa Brava Històric has established itself as a European benchmark, included in the calendar of the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA), and attracts 30% foreign participation.
This year, 105 teams from the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, France, Portugal, as well as from across Catalonia and Spain, will compete in this 1,000-kilometer event with over twenty regularity sections. The organizing club, RallyClassics, maintains its commitment to female participation through the #MotorDona program, with nearly thirty women registered, four of them as drivers.
The entry list includes about fifteen automobiles over fifty years old, with a 1960 Morris Oxford as the oldest vehicle and a 2000 Citroën Saxo as the most recent. The activity begins tomorrow, Thursday, October 29, in Sant Feliu de Guíxols with checks at the Espai Carmen Thyssen and the start of the first stage at 8:30 PM from the promenade.
The second stage will take the teams to Empuriabrava on Friday the 30th, after the first night stage. On Saturday the 31st, the Plaça de les Palmeres in Empuriabrava will host a gathering of classic cars and the start of the third and final stage, which will visit Northern Catalonia (Vallespir and Rosselló). The awards ceremony will be held there on Sunday the 1st in the morning.
Historic regularity rallies allow participants to enjoy driving vehicles at least twenty-five years old. The event features iconic cars from different eras and categories, with secret routes until the start of each stage to ensure competitive equality.
